
Tk 50 cr for mosquito control : This year’s budget of NCC will be Tk 775 cr

The Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) is set to announce a budget of Tk 775,33,78,158 (approximately Tk 775 crore) for the 2025–2026 fiscal year. In this year’s budget, the projected total income is Tk 775 crore, while the projected expenditure is Tk 678.93 crore. The surplus has been estimated at Tk 96.40 crore, with an opening balance of Tk 151 crore. The formal budget announcement will be made today, Thursday at the Nagar Bhaban auditorium by NCC Administrator A.H.M. Kamruzzaman.
In the 2025–2026 budget, Tk 3.46 crore has been allocated for mosquito eradication, compared to Tk 2.13 crore in the 2024–2025 fiscal year. For waste management, the allocation has been significantly increased to Tk 50.83 crore, whereas it was only Tk 15.27 crore in the previous fiscal year.
Income Sources: In the 2025–2026 budget, total projected income is Tk 624.30 crore. The breakdown is as follows: Revenue income: Tk 214.54 crore, Water supply income: Tk 28.60 crore, Government block grants: Tk 36.25 crore, Foreign-aid supported projects: Tk 170 crore, Annual Development Program (ADP) projects (DPP): Tk 120 crore and Development income from revenue: Tk 54.90 crore.
Expenditure: The total projected expenditure for 2025–2026 stands at Tk 678.93 crore. The allocations include: General revenue expenditure: Tk 195.36 crore, Water supply: Tk 27 crore, Revenue development expenditure: Tk 82 crore, Annual Development Program (ADP): Tk 56.75 crore, ADP (DPP projects): Tk 147.74 crore, Foreign-aid supported projects: Tk 170 crore, NCC’s own funding for infrastructure construction & development, environmental protection, and public space improvement: Tk 82 crore, In comparison, the NCC budget for the 2024–2025 fiscal year was Tk 544.29 crore.
According to NCC sources, the corporation has taken specific plans to boost revenue without raising tax rates. Instead, the focus is on expanding the tax base and creating new revenue sources. To modernize revenue management, NCC continues to introduce digital systems, including **e-trade licenses, e-certificate software, and e-water bill software**. A five-year reassessment program is also underway to review residential and commercial property taxes. To encourage timely tax payments, rebates are being offered for advance payments.
NCC Administrator A.H.M. Kamruzzaman stated that the budget would be development-oriented and citizen-friendly. Special emphasis will be placed on infrastructure, drainage, and waste management to ensure improved services for residents.
NCC’s accounts department noted that the budget puts particular importance on income growth. Plans include increasing collections from property taxes, holding taxes, trade licenses, and market rents, alongside reliance on government and foreign assistance for implementation.
