
Annual Urs begins of Hazrat Shah Paran (R.) Shrine begins in Sylhet

A two-day annual Urs of Hazrat Shah Paran (R.) has begun on Thursday in Sylhet with the participation of devotees and followers, the shrine authorities have completed all preparations centering the Urs.
On the first day, the formal program begins at 10:30 AM with the recitation of the Holy Quran and a Milad Mahfil. On the second day, Friday, devotees will place the gilaf on the shrine of Hazrat Shah Paran (R.). At midnight, the annual holy Urs will conclude with the final munajat and distribution of shirni.
The shrine authorities said that all kinds of preparations have been completed centering the two-day Urs.
To ensure security centering the Urs, a coordination meeting was held at the Sylhet Metropolitan Police Headquarters on Tuesday.
In the meeting, discussions were held on measures to preserve the sanctity of the shrine, create a suitable environment for ziarat, and prevent un-Islamic activities.
In addition, a monitoring committee was formed under the leadership of the Police Commissioner.
Sylhet Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md. Rezaul Karim said, “During the Urs, everyone concerned must remain extremely vigilant to preserve the sanctity and religious dignity of the shrine. Dance, music, obscenity, or any kind of un-Islamic activities in and around the shrine area will in no way be acceptable. A sufficient number of police personnel will be deployed, and the entire Urs premises and shrine area will be monitored through drone cameras.”
He further said, “The monitoring committee, consisting of the administration, law enforcement agencies, and local dignitaries, will remain on duty round the clock.”
