District Administration Executive Magistrate and Sonagazi UNO Rigyan Chakma has launched a raid against illegal sand mining in the Muhuri River in Nawabpur Union of Sonagazi.
Upazila Assistant Commissioner Bhumi, police and Ansar members were present at the time. Although no one was arrested in the raid, 60,000 CFT of sand and 2 dredger machines were seized.
The operation was conducted at 11 am on Friday in the area adjacent to the drug factory in Raghunathpur area of Ward No. 9 of Nawabpur Union.
Riggan Chakma said that regular cases will be filed against those who extract illegal sand, so that the Feni district administration will maintain a strict policy against those who extract illegal sand.
