Attack on journalist in Sandwip

Unknown assailants attacked journalist Ismail Hossain Moni in Sandwip, Chittagong. He is a resident of Maitbhanga Union of the upazila and Bijoy TV's Sandwip correspondent.
Last Tuesday, he was returning home from Shiberhat on a motorcycle when miscreants attacked him on Maitbhanga Delwar Khan Road. At that time, he was injured by the miscreants' sticks. He filed a complaint at Sandwip Police Station on Thursday, seeking redress for the attack. After the attack, the police visited the scene after receiving information.
The victim of the attack, journalist Ismail Hossain Moni, said, "A group of about 7/8 armed people attacked me that night. I was able to quickly leave the scene by riding a bike at that time, so I was saved from a major attack. The miscreants of the area may have been angry with me because I had previously published several news items against irregularities and degradation, and so they carried out this attack." Officer-in-Charge of Sandwip Police Station A.K. M. Shafiqul Alam Chowdhury said, "I am out of Sandwip at the moment on official work, and necessary action will be taken after investigation into the complaint."
Meanwhile, Acting President of Sandwip Press Club Mozammel Hossain and general secretary Mohammad Omar Faisal condemned and protested the heinous attack on journalist Ismail Hossain Moni and demanded exemplary punishment against the culprits.
