Local fishermen have formed a human chain to protest against the conspiracy to close the fish ghat at Burirchar Aska Bazar in Hatia, an isolated island upazila of Noakhali. The human chain program was held at Suryajmukhi Aska Bazar in Burirchar Union of the upazila on Friday afternoon.
Suryajmukhi Dakshin Par Fish Ghat President Ahsan Ullah, General Secretary Md. Emran Hossain, fish traders Russell Uddin, Md. Rubel Uddin, Nizam Uddin and others spoke at the human chain. About five hundred people from the fish traders and fishermen community were present at the time.
The speakers alleged that the Awami League's terrorist group is using the name of BNP to extort money and loot fish freely. At the same time, they are involved in a conspiracy to close the old fish ghat for a long time. Despite not being businessmen, this group has built another fish ghat on the opposite side and has been spreading propaganda, harassing businessmen, filing false cases, threatening and beating them at various times.
They further alleged that these misdeeds are being committed by the people of the fallen Awami League in the presence of some BNP figures. Although these allegations were proven false in the meeting held at the police station earlier, they are continuing to spread misinformation on social media.
It is worth noting that the Hatiya Suryajmukhi Fish Ghat is a notable fish ghat in the region. After the change of August 5, two parties on both banks of the canal ran separate businesses, but recently a rift has arisen between the two parties due to psychological conflicts and disputes.
