
Two-day Malaysian cultural exhibition begins at DU campus

A two-day Malaysian cultural exhibition, organized by the Institute of Modern Languages at Dhaka University began on Tuesday at the institute’s premises.
The Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University, Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan, inaugurated the exhibition as the chief guest at a ceremony held in the institute’s auditorium. The event is jointly organized with the support of the Malaysian High Commission in Dhaka and Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Malaysia.
The ceremony was chaired by the Director of the Institute of Modern Languages, Professor Mohammad Absar Kamal. The Malaysian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Mohd. Shuhada Othman, attended as the guest of honor. Sunil Issac, Country Managing Director of EDOTCO Bangladesh, also spoke at the event.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan stated that Malaysia was among the first countries to recognize Bangladesh’s independence. He noted that the two countries have maintained a deep and friendly relationship for a long time. He expressed hope that this cultural exhibition would further strengthen the bonds of friendship between the two nations. He also mentioned that the Institute of Modern Languages at Dhaka University has recently introduced a Malay language course, which he believes will enhance mutual communication between the people of the two countries and strengthen diplomatic, economic, social, and cultural ties.
The inaugural ceremony featured a captivating cultural performance by students and artists from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris and other Malaysian institutions. Additionally, an exhibition showcasing various Malaysian artworks was organized.
