Two youths from Fulbari upazila in Kurigram—Belal Hossain (35) and Sanjay Kumar Roy (27)—were killed in a tragic road accident involving a motorcycle and a Dhaka-bound bus. 

The accident occurred late at night, around 11:30 PM on Sunday near the Bural Bridge area of Kaunia upazila in Rangpur district.

According to locals, a Shah Ali Paribahan bus (registration no. Dhaka Metro Ba-14-6245) coming from Lalmonirhat towards Dhaka, recklessly speeding, collided head-on with the motorcycle carrying the two victims. The impact threw both riders off the motorcycle, severely injuring them. Locals, with the help of the fire service, rushed them to Kaunia Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared them dead on arrival.

Kaunia police later recovered the bodies and brought them to the station, also seizing the involved bus.

Belal Hossain was a resident of Chandrakhana Masterpara in Fulbari and the son of deceased Azim Uddin. Sanjay Kumar Roy hailed from the Khamartari area of Kabir Mahmud village in the same upazila, son of Nibaran Chandra. Both were married.

Sanjay’s uncle, Suman Kumar Roy, stated that the two were returning home from Rangpur on the same motorcycle when the fatal collision occurred near Baraile Bridge in Kaunia. Both died on the spot. Upon hearing the news, family members collected the bodies from Kaunia Police Station.

Fulbari Police Station OC Shariful Islam confirmed hearing about the incident but clarified that it took place outside his jurisdiction. Kaunia Police Station OC Abdul Latif Shah reported that the motorcycle collided with a Dhaka-bound bus, which later overturned but caused no harm to passengers. A case has been filed under the Road Transport Act. The bus has been impounded, and the bodies were handed over to the families.
