A madrasa lecturer in Bauphal, Patuakhali, murdered his wife by slitting her throat on suspicion of extramarital affair. He appeared at Bauphal police station around 2 am on Thursday and confessed to the murder along with his 4-year-old son Sarfaraz.

Based on his confession, the police recovered the body of the deceased. The deceased has been identified as Salma Begum (32).
She was a lecturer in the Bengali department of Nurainpur Nesaria Degree Madrasa in the upazila. She is the daughter of the deceased Rustam Ali of Dhawa village in Bhandaria upazila of Pirojpur. Accused Sarwar Hossain is the son of the deceased Moksed Ali, a resident of Nadmula village in the same upazila.
According to sources, Salma Akhter and her husband Sarwar Hossain, along with their only child, were living in the rented house of Md. Jasim Uddin Bepari in Chandrapara village of Madanpura union in Bauphal upazila due to their jobs. Their family feud had been going on for a long time.
On Wednesday (July 30) afternoon, due to the feud, the husband hit his wife on the neck with a sharp knife kept in Sarwar's house. Salma Akhter died on the spot. After the murder, Sarwar closed the doors and windows of the house and fled with the child. Later, driven by remorse, he appeared at Bauphal police station around 2 am on Thursday and confessed to the murder. Bauphal police station OC Investigation Atiqul Islam said, when Sarwar Hossain came to the police station and confessed to killing his wife, I immediately went to the spot, recovered the body and brought it to the police station and the child has been taken into police custody.
Bauphal Police Station OC Akhtaruzzaman Sarkar said that during the initial interrogation, Sarwar said that he committed the murder on suspicion of being involved in adultery with his wife.
The body has been sent to the Patuakhali Hospital morgue for autopsy. A case is under process in this incident.
