Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury emphasized the need to instill Kazi Nazrul Islam’s ideals of humanity, equality, non-communalism, and patriotism into the younger generation to foster a harmonious society.

He made the remarks on Thursday morning while speaking as the chief guest at a seminar and prize distribution ceremony organized by the Mohammadpur Upazila Administration in Magura to observe 'Nazrul Year'. The event took place at the Mohammadpur Upazila Parishad Auditorium.

"Kazi Nazrul Islam is not merely the poet of rebellion; he is the poet of humanity, equality, freedom, and liberation," the minister noted. He stated that Nazrul's literature and philosophy inspire youth to raise their voices against injustice, discrimination, and communalism, urging educational institutions to expand Nazrul studies to acquaint students with his life and principles.

The minister stressed that the primary objective of celebrating 'Nazrul Year' is to embody Nazrul's philosophy in personal, social, and national spheres, which plays a pivotal role in developing moral and human values among students.

Highlighting Bangladesh's rich cultural heritage, Nitai Roy Chowdhury remarked that the country's strength lies in its pluralism and diversity, where over 50 ethnic communities live in harmony with their distinct languages, cultures, and traditions.

Mohammadpur UNO  Bedabati Mistry presided over the seminar, while Assistant Professor of Kazi Salima Haq Women's College Mst. Rashida Khatun presented the keynote paper. Principal of Ahad Ali College in Narail, Maimur Ali Mridha, took part as a discussant.

Earlier in the day, the Cultural Affairs Minister inaugurated an inspection room in Mohammadpur upazila.
