Prominent industrialist, businessman, and social worker Mazakat Harun (Manik) has been re-elected as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Express Insurance Limited (EIL) for another term recently.

The election was held earlier this July, solidifying his leadership at the helm of the insurance company.

This marks another chapter for Harun, who previously served as the company's chairman during the 2012–2015 and 2024–2026 tenures.
Hailing from a respected family in Panchgachia village under Chengarchar Pourashava in Matlab Uttar Upazila, Chandpur, Mazakat Harun is the son of the late Abu Ahmad Sarker, a well-known dreamer and social worker. Over his career, Harun has established himself as a leading figure in Bangladesh’s insurance, banking, and industrial sectors.

Beyond the insurance industry, Harun has a significant footprint in the country's financial and textile sectors.

He is a Sponsor Director and former director of EXIM Bank Limited. He also serves as the Chairman and Managing Director of Aaron Denim Limited and Comfit Composite Knit Limited. Furthermore, he is the proprietor of Manik and Sohag Brothers Tannery Limited in Hazaribagh.

His leadership extends to major trade bodies as well. Since 2015, he has been serving as the President of the Bangladesh Chemical Importers and Merchants Association (BCIMA) and is a General Body (GB) member of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI).

In addition to his business acumen, Harun is widely recognized for his philanthropic contributions.

He founded the Abu Ahmad Darul Ulum Madrasah in his native village and has funded the construction of several mosques featuring modern amenities.

Through his charitable organization, the 'Manik Foundation', he regularly extends financial aid and winter clothing to the underprivileged, and distributes relief during the holy month of Ramadan.
