NCP to contest local elections independently : Nahid Islam
Sarker Shahadat Hossain, Gaibandha
The National Citizen Party (NCP) announced on Friday that it will contest the upcoming local government elections independently based on its own organizational strength, without forming any political alliance.
Speaking at an NCP regional coordination meeting at the Gaibandha District Council auditorium, NCP President and Chief Whip of the Opposition Nahid Islam MP stated that while the 11-party alliance remains a separate understanding, the party will run solo in local polls.
Nahid Islam also strongly criticized the ruling BNP, accusing it of staying in power by force and failing to respect the public referendum's verdict. He warned that no government can sustain power through force for long. I
he alleged that the BNP-led government has taken no effective action against the Awami League and is instead attempting to politically rehabilitate them.
The meeting chaired by NCP District Coordinator Khedamul Islam Khudi and attended by Senior Joint Member Secretary Sarjis Alam alongside other central leaders—focused on grassroots organizational strengthening and election strategy.
