2nd anniversary of July Uprising to be celebrated at DU

A meeting to formulate a program to celebrate the second anniversary of the historic July Uprising was held on Tuesday at Professor Abdul Matin Chowdhury Virtual Classroom. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam presided over the meeting.
Pro-Vice Chancellor (Admin) Prof Dr. Mohammad Almojaddidi Alfesani, deans of various faculties, principals of various halls, proctors, acting registrars, heads of offices, and representatives of DUCSU and student organizations were present at the meeting.
The meeting reviewed the overall preparations and progress of celebrating the second anniversary of the historic July Uprising with due dignity.
The meeting decided to inaugurate the foundation stone of the July Monument construction project on the university campus on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, to mark the second anniversary of the July Uprising. To implement this project, a committee was formed with the Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts as the convener and the Proctor as the member-secretary.
In addition, the meeting decided to establish a July Memorial Corner in the university's central library. For this purpose, a committee was formed with the Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts as the convener and the Acting Librarian as the member-secretary.
As per the decision of the meeting, a discussion meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at the Student Teacher Center Auditorium, taking the July Uprising as the subject. Each hall and faculty will formulate and implement a program on their own initiative to celebrate the second anniversary of the July Uprising.
The meeting decided to celebrate 'Women's Day' on the university campus every year on July 14.
