AL leader severely injured in attack inside mosque in Sherpur

Saju Mia, a local Awami League leader, was seriously injured after being hacked by miscreants while offering prayers inside a mosque in Nakla upazila of Sherpur.
The victim, Saju Said Siddiki, is the son of the late Mokbul Hossain from Chandrakona village. He is a two-time former chairman of the upazila's No. 9 Chandrakona union and serves as the president of the Chandrakona union Awami League unit.
According to reports, Saju Said Siddiki went to the mosque near the Chandrakona Chourasta intersection on Wednesday night to perform Esha prayers. During the prayers, a group of five to seven assailants entered the mosque and struck him indiscriminately with sharp weapons, leaving him severely wounded. Local residents subsequently rescued him and admitted him to Sherpur Sadar Hospital.
Allegations have surfaced that the attackers also issued death threats against him inside the hospital premises. Consequently, his family members reported being unable to locate him at the hospital since Thursday afternoon.
Confirming the incident, Nakla Police Station OC Ripon Chandra Ghosh stated that authorities are aware of the occurrence, though no formal complaint has been filed yet.
