13 senior police officers dismissed for disappearing from workplaces

After the fall of the Awami League government on August 5 last year, the police force collapsed. Many police officers joined their workplaces and then disappeared after a few days. Some went on leave and did not return, while others disappeared without even taking leave. The government has temporarily dismissed 13 such senior police officers who have not reported to work for a long time.

The Police-1 Section of the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs issued 13 separate notifications on Sunday. These notifications were signed by Deputy Secretary Nasimul Gani on June 26 

According to the notifications, among these 13 officers are three Police Superintendents, eight Additional Police Superintendents, and two Assistant Police Superintendents.

They are : former Police Superintendent of ATU, currently attached to the DIG office of Barishal Range, Mohammad Sanwar Hossain has been absent from work without permission since January 1. As he is accused of the crime of absconding under government rules, he has been temporarily dismissed from government service.

Former Police Superintendent of Rangpur district, currently attached to the DIG office of Chattogram Range, Md. Shahjahan has been absent from work since January 16. As he is accused of the crime of absconding under government rules, he has been temporarily dismissed from government service.

Former Police Superintendent of Narayanganj district, currently attached to the DIG office of Barisal Range, Golam Mostafa Russel has been absent from work since January 1. As he is accused of the crime of absconding under government rules, he has been temporarily dismissed from government service.

 Additional Police Superintendent of River Police S. M. Jahangir Hasan was granted 15 days’ leave on October 3 last year for heart disease treatment in Thailand. He left the workplace on October 8. After the 15-day leave, the scheduled date to rejoin was October 23. But on October 23, he applied by e-mail for an additional 60 days’ extended leave while under treatment at Singapore’s Mount Elizabeth Hospital. His application was approved. Even then, two notices were issued to his permanent address to appear at work, but he is still staying abroad without joining the workplace.

Former ADC of Ramna Division, currently Additional Police Superintendent of Sylhet In-Service Training Center, Shah Alam Md. Akhtarul Islam has been absent from work since January 26. As he is accused of the crime of absconding under government rules, he has been temporarily dismissed from government service.

 Former ADC of DMP S. M. Shamim has been absent from work since September 18 last year. As he is accused of the crime of absconding under government rules, he has been temporarily dismissed from government service.

 Former ADC of DMP, currently Additional Police Superintendent of Cox’s Bazar APBN, Iftekharul Islam has been absent from work since February 16. As he is accused of the crime of absconding under government rules, he has been temporarily dismissed from government service.

 Former ADC of DMP DB, currently Additional Police Superintendent of Jamalpur In-Service Training Center, Mishu Biswas has been absent from work since October 26 last year. As he is accused of the crime of absconding under government rules, he has been temporarily dismissed from government service.

Additional Police Superintendent of Rangamati APBN Hasanuzzaman Molya has been absent from work since February 2. As he is accused of the crime of absconding under government rules, he has been temporarily dismissed from government service.

 Former ADC of Tejgaon Division, currently Additional Police Superintendent of Sunamganj In-Service Training Center, Rubaiyat Zaman has been absent from work since January 29. As he is accused of the crime of absconding under government rules, he has been temporarily dismissed from government service.

 Acting Company Commander of Barisal RAB-8, Additional Police Superintendent Masudur Rahman has been absent from work since November 13 last year. As he is accused of the crime of absconding under government rules, he has been temporarily dismissed from government service.

ASP) of Cox’s Bazar Ukhiya APBN Mohammad Imrul has been absent from work since January 28. As he is accused of the crime of absconding under government rules, he has been temporarily dismissed from government service.

ASP of Rajarbagh Police Telecom Building Md. Mahmudul Hasan has been absent from work since September 13 last year. As he is accused of the crime of absconding under government rules, he has been temporarily dismissed from government service.
