21 Rohingyas pushed In by BSF thru' Sherpur border

Sherpur Correspondent

Through the Nakugaon border of Nalitabari upazila in Sherpur, the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has pushed in 21 Rohingya men, women, and children into Bangladesh. Among them are 5 adult men, 5 women, and 11 children.

On the night of Thursday (July 24), they were pushed in through border pillar number 1116 of the Nakugaon border area.

The truth of the incident has been confirmed by Lieutenant Colonel Mehedi Hasan, Commander of the 39th Battalion of BGB, Mymensingh.
According to sources from the BGB and locals, after midnight on Thursday, members of India’s Kilapara BSF Camp pushed in 21 Rohingya men, women, and children through the side of border pillar number 1116 in Nakugaon border area under Hatipagor BGB Camp of Nalitabari upazila. Later, the BGB patrol team detained them and took them into custody.

The BGB further informed that the detainees are members of six families. In 2017, they fled from the Balukhali Rohingya refugee camp in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar, and illegally went to Jammu and Kashmir in India, where they started working in hotels and households as laborers. A month ago, they were arrested during a raid by Indian police on charges of illegally residing in India. Later, they identified themselves as Rohingya nationals from Myanmar who had been in Ukhiya camp in Cox’s Bazar. Indian police then handed them over to the BSF.

Lieutenant Colonel Mehedi Hasan, Commander of the 39th BGB Battalion in Mymensingh, said that further verification and processing regarding the detainees are underway.
