223- kg of fry released in 7 reservoirs in Mirsarai

In the 2026-2027 fiscal year, 223 kg of different species of fry have been released into 7 water bodies of Mirsarai Upazila under the fish release program in selected internal and institutional water bodies.
The fish fry were released through a program organized at various places in Mirsarai Upazila on Sunday morning. These include Mahamaya Lake, Upazila Parishad Pond, Mirsarai Thana Pond, Bawashara Lake, Upazila Health Complex reservoir, Zorarganj Highway Thana Pond and Fire Service Office reservoir.
Those concerned said that the fish release program will increase fish production in the upazila's internal and institutional water bodies, play a role in breeding native fish and preserving biodiversity.
Present at the event were Upazila Executive Officer Somaiya Akhter, Upazila Agriculture Officer Pratap Chandra Roy, Upazila Fisheries Officer Ariful Islam, Upazila Youth Development Officer Shah Alam, Upazila Project Implementation Officer Mohammad Ismail, Mirsarai Police Station OC Farida Yasmin, Upazila BNP Convener Abdul Awal Chowdhury and Upazila BNP Former General Secretary Mohammad Alamgir, along with concerned officials and local dignitaries.
During the program, those concerned called on everyone to be more aware of conserving water bodies, protecting fish breeding grounds, and managing natural aquatic resources.
