Three people were killed and at least 10 others injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a truck in Pabna. The accident occurred at around 5:30 AM on Friday in the Purbo Bongram area of Santhia Upazila on the Pabna-Dhaka highway.
The injured have been admitted to Pabna General Hospital. Madhpur Highway Police Station OC Mostafizur Rahman confirmed the information.
He stated that a passenger bus named "Pabna Express" was heading toward Pabna from Narayanganj. In the early morning at Purbo Bongram, the bus collided with a stone-laden truck coming from the opposite direction. Three passengers of the bus died on the spot.
Police recovered the bodies and sent the injured to the hospital. According to the police, the accident occurred as the bus driver had fallen asleep at the wheel. Identities of two of the deceased have been confirmed: Abed Ali (38), son of late Hashem Mollah of Shantipur village in Sujanagar Upazila, and Monsur Ali (40), son of late Iyad Ali of Atraikura Kali Dor Para village in Santhia Upazila.
