40-yr -old land encroachment in Kamalnagar dismissed, land acquisition case dismissed

In Kamalnagar, an allegation has been made against the Upazila Assistant Commissioner of Lands for rejecting a 17th century land in the name of the owner of a 1996 deed instead of depositing the land with the 1992 deed. The victim's family is angry that the two miss cases filed in this incident were dismissed. In addition, there is an allegation against the land office surveyor of demanding a bribe of 3 lakh taka and accepting 6 thousand taka in cash.

Anwar Hossain, the eldest son of the victim Haji Billal Hossain, alleged that his father bought 146 percent of the land from Mostafa Khatun in 1992 on the basis of three original documents at plots 8878, 8879, 8879. They have been living in that land for about 40 years, building a house.

On March 9, 2025, Anwar applied to have the 146 percent land transferred to his father's name. But the then Assistant Commissioner of Land, Shamsuddin Md. Reza, allegedly deducted 17 percent from the 146th century and transferred it to the name of Haji Nur Nabi, the donor of the 196th document. The transfer was made in the name of Khatian No. 3092.

Seeking redress in this regard, Anwar Hossain filed a case against Khatians No. 1580 and 1587 on September 8 and 16, respectively, and against Khatians No. 3092 and 2998.

But the current Assistant Commissioner of Lands, Mohammad Arafat Hussain, dismissed both the missing cases on August 27, 2026.

Anwar Hossain alleged, "Surveyor Abdullah Al Mamun demanded a bribe of 3 lakh taka from me and took 6 thousand taka in cash. After that, he filed an investigation report in the name of Noor Nabi, who acquired my 17th century land."

When asked about this, surveyor Abdullah Al Mamun denied demanding or accepting bribes.

Haji Nur Nabi said, "We have all the documents. The two parties can sit down and resolve the issue. If Billal Hossain gets the land, it will be given."

Assistant Commissioner of Land Mohammad Arafat Hussain said, "If the surveyor is asking for a bribe, file a written complaint and action will be taken after investigation."

It is mentioned hat on September 13, Aceland Arafat Hussain posted a post on his official Facebook page under the name 'fake journalist'. There, he claimed that he had never taken a single bribe and that he had not deposited or rejected the khatian number 3092. He also erased the khatian with red ink and posted it. He also said that there would be no more deposits or rejections at the 9502 mark.

Journalists have raised questions about this, is it a crime to take statements from officials for news gathering? And how reasonable is it to take photos of journalists without permission and post them on Facebook? The deletion of 3092 submissions in the rejection ledger with red ink indicates that this rejection of submissions is a major irregularity.
