Begumganj OC vows strict stance against illegal drug trade, teen gangs

Begumganj Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Samsuzzaman announced a zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and substance abuse in Begumganj Upazila during an anti-narcotics and social awareness meeting on Monday afternoon.
The meeting, organized to address illicit drug trade, eve-teasing, and juvenile delinquency, took place at the auditorium of Jamidarhat Begum Nurnahar (BN) High School in Begumganj. Rasulpur Union BNP Convener Monir Uddin chaired the session, where OC Samsuzzaman attended as the chief guest.
Addressing teachers, students, and guardians, OC Samsuzzaman asserted that no drug dealers or consumers would be tolerated in Begumganj. He urged parents to monitor their children’s activities closely and cautioned against providing underage children with smartphones, highlighting the risks of digital misdirection and distractions from academic progress.
The discussion was attended by Headmaster Ismail Hossain Chowdhury, local Union Parishad Chairman Abdur Rashid, Rasulpur Union BNP Member Secretary Nur Nabi Chowdhury, and Joint Secretary Jahangir Alam Riyaz, along with local guardians, teachers, and community leaders.
Following the meeting, an anti-narcotics rally was held across major roads and the Jamidarhat market area. Speakers at the event emphasized coordinated actions among families, educational institutions, and law enforcement agencies to eliminate drug abuse and juvenile violence.
