Betagi police detained six individuals on Friday afternoon while they were allegedly gathering and preparing for a procession and organizational activities on behalf of the banned organization, Bangladesh Chhatra League. 

The arrests were made during a special drive conducted around the 'Durjoy Betagi Sculpture' in the Ferryghat area of the upazila. Police later held a official press briefing at 8:00 PM to share details about the operation.

The detainees have been identified as Shahin (19), son of Shipon Molla, and Tawhid (18), son of Khalilur Rahman, both residents of South Hosnabad; Mahim (17), son of Mahbub Molla, and Md. Sifat (19), son of Harun Miah, both from Phultala village; Parvez (20), son of Bashir Hawlader from Bibichini Union; and Naim (17), son of Monjurul Hossain from Talgachhia village. During the drive, police also recovered several Awami League handbills and flags from their possession.

Speaking at the press briefing, Betagi Police Station OC  Md. Harun or Rashid Hawlader said that they received information regarding a group of Chhatra League activists from various parts of the upazila gathering at the Durjoy Sculpture area ahead of the month of August. Based on the tip-off, the OC personally led a police team to conduct the raid. Although several suspects managed to flee the scene, law enforcement successfully apprehended six individuals.

The OC further mentioned that during initial interrogation, the detainees did not admit to holding any official organizational designations, meaning their precise positions within Chhatra League are yet to be confirmed. 

 Legal proceedings against the detained individuals  have been take and the overall situation in the area is  normal following the drive.
