7 Injured in attack over land dispute in Panchbibi

Seven people were injured in an attack by rivals over a land dispute in Nandoil village of Panchbibi upazila in Joypurhat. The injured were rescued and admitted to the hospital. The incident occurred on 11 June. A case was filed with Panchbibi police station on Saturday against 11 individuals in connection with the incident.
The injured are Nur Alam, Fazlu Rahman, Riad Hossain, Rubel, Sufiyan, Salma, and Johura. Among them, Nur Alam, Fazlu Rahman, and Riad Hossain are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.
According to the case details, Khosiron Bibi inherited 9 shatak (0.09 acres) of land from her husband, located in Nandoil mouza under Panchbibi police station of Joypurhat district (Dag Nos. 726 and 724). Approximately 15 years ago, the plaintiff’s mother, Mosammat Minuara Begum, purchased this land from Khosiron Bibi through a registered deed and constructed a residential house there and has been in possession ever since. However, the primary accused, Anarul Islam, has been falsely claiming ownership of this land.
On 11 June, the plaintiff, Rubel Hossain Mintu, went to build a boundary wall on his land. At that time, Anarul Islam from Satbaria Dholahar area of Joypurhat Sadar, along with hired goons armed with local weapons, launched a sudden attack on Rubel's house and began vandalizing the property. When the victims tried to resist, the accused attacked them with various indigenous weapons. Hearing their screams, locals rushed to the scene, causing the attackers to flee. The victims were then taken to the hospital for treatment.
OC of Panchbibi Police Station, Moinul Islam, said a case has been filed regarding the incident. Action will be taken against those involved after investigation.
