Accused in 23 cases hacked to death in Cumilla

A person Md. Al-Mamun alias Mamun Samrat was hacked to death by miscreants at the Gouripur bus stand in Daudkandi, Cumilla . The incident took place at around 11:30 pm on Friday, in the Cumilla -facing lane at the Gouripur bus stand in Daudkandi Upazila on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway.
OC of Daudkandi Model Police Station Md. Junayet Chowdhury said, "On receiving information about the incident, we reached the spot and saw the bloodied body of the person. The miscreants confirmed his death by hacking him and fled."
The OC also said that Mamun and 3 other women boarded a bus from Dhaka to Cox's Bazar at night. After the bus stopped at the Gouripur bus stand, Mamun got down from the car to buy water, and 3/4 miscreants attacked him with sharp weapons. He died on the spot. However, who and why did this incident happen can be told in detail after the investigation.
The deceased Al-Mamun alias Mamun Samrat is the son of Mosharraf Hossain alias Mukbul Member of Sholakandi village in Titas upazila of Cumilla .
Police said that there are 23 cases against him, including murder, drugs, and extortion, in various police stations including Daudkandi and Titas.
Meanwhile, locals said that Mamun used to control drugs and extortion in the Gouripur area. The murder may have been triggered by this incident.
