Agri technology meet held in Ashashuni to tackle climate change challenges

An evaluation meeting on the progress and effectiveness of the “Climate-Smart Technologies for Climate Change Adaptation in Khulna Agricultural Region” project was held in Ashashunii on Thursday at the Upazila Officers' Club and was organized by the Upazila Agriculture Extension Department.
The event was presided over by Upazila Agriculture Officer Agriculturist Shubhrangshu Shekhar Dash. UNO Krishna Roy was present as the chief guest, while the keynote paper was presented by the Project Director Agriculturist Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni. The session was moderated by Assistant Agriculture Officer Tarikul Islam.
Special guests in attendance included former Upazila BNP convener S.M. Hedayetul Islam, Upazila Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Abu Musa Tariquzzaman Tushar, former Upazila BNP member secretary Zakir Hossain Babu, Social Welfare Officer Md. Rafiqul Islam, Acting Veterinary Surgeon Dr. Abdus Salam, Women Affairs Officer Saidul Islam, Administrator of Boro Dol Union Parishad Akhtar Faruk Billal, Chairman of Shovnali Union Parishad Abu Bakkar Siddiq, Academic Supervisor Hasanuzzaman, and many others.
The meeting featured in-depth discussions on techniques for cultivating multiple crops in a single plot by adapting to saline water conditions, the potential for high-yield watermelon farming, and opportunities to increase agricultural production in Boro Dol and Khajra Unions. Participants shared their views on sustainable adaptation strategies in the agricultural sector in the context of climate change.
