Demonstrating exemplary vigilance and dedication, members of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP) rescued two lost children in separate incidents in Cumilla and Dhaka on Thursday and safely reunited them with their parents.
The first incident occurred around 9:30 am at the Chandina Upazila Health Complex in Cumilla. Five-year-old Abdur Rahman Hossain, son of late Anwar Hossain from Satbaria village in Muradnagar, went missing due to the inadvertent oversight of his mother, Halima Khatun, who had visited the hospital for dental treatment.
On-duty Ansar members spotted the child crying near the main gate and immediately took him into their protective care. Following announcements made across the hospital premises via loudspeakers, the child was safely handed back to his mother within an hour.
Later in the afternoon, around 3:00 pm, another incident unfolded at the Motijheel Metro Rail Station in the capital. APC Md. Rokonuzzaman, on duty at Platform 2, noticed seven-year-old Md. Tamim running around alone in distress after alighting from a train.
Since the boy was unable to provide his home address or parental contact numbers, Rokonuzzaman promptly notified the Station Controller.
Following station-wide announcements, station authorities and Ansar personnel located the child's parents, Sujon Miah and Taslima. After thorough verification in the presence of station officials and the MRT Police In-Charge, Tamim was safely handed over to his parents.
Relieved parents expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Ansar force, while members of the public widely praised the personnel for their prompt, responsible, and humane action in times of distress.
