Ansar-VDP initiative restores safety at hazardous Rangpur-Lalmonirhat highway

The Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (Ansar-VDP) conducted a special cleanliness drive to clear dense overgrown vegetation from the hazardous "Kalabari Morr" on the Rangpur-Lalmonirhat highway on Thursday eliminating a severe blind spot and restoring road safety.
The blind curve at Kalabari Morr, featuring a sharp 135-degree angle, was previously covered in thick jungle that obstructed the view of oncoming traffic, making the location a high-risk zone for fatal vehicular accidents.
Under the direction and leadership of Upazila Ansar and VDP Officer Md. Nasim Hasan, the operation was carried out on Thursday. Upazila Trainers Md. Nuruzzaman Shahin and Jannat Ara coordinated the drive, where 100 stipendiary and general VDP members actively cleared the dangerous foliage along the highway stretch.
The removal of the jungle has eliminated the longstanding blind spot, enabling drivers from both directions to spot oncoming vehicles from a distance and navigate the turn safely. The intervention has brought relief to drivers, passengers, and local pedestrians who regularly commute along the route.
