Anti-drug drive : Coast Guard seized 14,000 Yaba pills in Teknaf

Bangladesh Coast Guard personnel seized 14,000 Yaba pills with an estimated market value of Tk 70 lakh during an anti-narcotics drive in the Naaf River near Teknaf upazila on Monday.
Coast Guard Headquarters Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon confirmed the operation in a press release on Monday afternoon.
According to official sources, a specialized operational team from Coast Guard Station Teknaf conducted the drive at around 11:00 AM on Monday in the Naaf River adjacent to Naityongpara under Teknaf Police Station, based on confidential intelligence regarding narcotics smuggling.
Sensing the presence of the Coast Guard patrol team, suspected drug smugglers jettisoned a sack into the river and fled the scene into deep waters. The operational team subsequently retrieved the abandoned sack and recovered 14,000 pieces of Yaba pills upon searching.
Legal proceedings regarding the seized narcotics have already been taken. Coast Guard officials reiterating their resolve to sustain anti-drug operations to curb the narcotics trade.
