
BCI to prepare report on development of MSMEs

Bangladesh Chamber of Industries (BCI) will continue to work to promote the micro, small and medium industries across the country.
In this regard, the organisation will prepare a complete report with the opinions of all sectors of micro, small and medium industries and send it to the concerned government departments and discuss with them how to develop micro, small and medium industries by removing the problems of this sector.BCI President Anwar-ul Alam Chowdhury (Parvez) said this while addressing a round table meeting on issues of manufacturing industry, especially micro, small and medium enterprises at the organisation’s Boardroom on Saturday.
BCI Secretary General Dr Md Helal Uddin, ndc, moderated the event.He said that BCI has been continuously working to identify the problems of their respective sectors and find solutions.He noted that BCI is focusing on the development of light engineering, agro-based industries, halal products, blue economy, and leather products.“We want to remove all kinds of obstacles to all local industries,” he added.
The participants in the meeting discussed various important issues including credit system, environmental certification, obstacles to obtaining loans for women entrepreneurs, VAT and tax management, certification, market management, implementation of the competition law have come up.The BCI president also said that before discussing with the government, the sector-specific issues will be finalized with the leaders of the relevant sectors and they will be kept in the delegation during the discussion.The meeting was also addressed by Preeti Chakraborty, Senior Vice President, BCI, Shahidul Islam Niru, Director, BCI, Jahangir Alam, Director, BCI, Shahedul Islam (Helal), Former President, BCI, Obaidur Rahman, President, Bangladesh Aluminum Manufacturers Association, Ali Zaman, President, SME Owners Association of Bangladesh, Md.
