
Biology Olympiad Mymensingh Regional Festival held at BAU

The Mymensingh regional festival of the Bangladesh Biology Olympiad 2025 was held at Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU).
The event was inaugurated on Friday at 8:00 AM with the national anthem and flag hoisting ceremony at the university’s Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin Auditorium. Vice-Chancellor of BAU, Prof Dr. A.K. Fazlul Haque Bhuiyan, formally Inaugurated the Mymensingh regional round.
The main highlight of the festival, the biology competition exam was held at 9:30 AM across multiple rooms within the Faculties of Agriculture and Veterinary Science. This year, a total of 563 students from the Mymensingh region participated in the event, divided into three categories: Junior (class 6–8), Secondary (class 9–10), and Higher Secondary (class 11–12).
The event was organized in collaboration with the National Institute of Biotechnology as training partner, while the Bangladesh Agricultural University Journalists’ Association (BAUJA) served as media partner.
The prize-giving ceremony followed the competition, presided over by Professor Dr. Md. Sabibul Haque, President of the Biology Olympiad Mymensingh Regional Committee and faculty member of the Department of Crop Botany. Teachers from various departments and student volunteers also took part in the program.
In his inaugural address, Vice-Chancellor Bhuiyan emphasized, “Winning is not the main goal; participation is what truly matters. This festival encourages students to explore new ideas and nurture scientific curiosity. Events like this will help foster a generation of science-minded youth, playing a vital role in the country's advancement in science and technology.”
