BNP leader's body recovered 3 days after missing in Rangamati

The body of a BNP leader has been recovered floating in Kaptai Lake in Rangamati, three days after he went missing. The body was recovered from the lake in Gorjantila area of Kaptai Upazila at around 1:15 pm on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Md. Masud (50), the president of Ward No. 6 BNP of Kaptai Union No. 4 of Kaptai Upazila and a businessman.
Senior Station Officer of Kaptai Fire Service Md. Shahadat Hossain said that the Fire Service, Navy and Police jointly conducted a search for several days. Initially, it is believed that he fell into the water after falling from a moving boat. Later, his body was recovered from the area near the place where he went missing.
Sheikh Mahmudul Hasan Rubel, OC of Kaptai Police Station, said, "The body has been recovered and brought to Kaptai Police Station. The body will be handed over to the relatives after completing the necessary legal procedures including autopsy.
" Police and local sources said that Masud went missing in the Gorjantila area on Saturday (July 18) while returning to Kaptai in his own engine-powered boat from Farua area of Bilaichhari upazila. Later, his boat was found floating, but he was still missing.
