Students of Bangladesh University of Health Sciences ( BUHS) organized a human chain at Mirpur Technical intersection demanding safe roads on Tuesday noon demanding safe roads.
BUHS Registrar and Head of Technical Division Engr. Md. Zulfikar Hossain was present at the event and expressed solidarity with the students.
Students carried various placards with slogans.
After the human chain, they brought out a rally which went around the campus.
The rally ended after encircling the university campus and returning to the main gate.
Later, they returned to the Technical intersection and held a sit-in in front of the university’s main gate.
Finally, they concluded the programme with a human chain.BUHS students blocked the road and demanded the construction of speed breakers to prevent further accidents on the road where the accident occurred.
BUHS Pro- Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Ahsan Habib expressed deep grief over the student’s death and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family. Teachers and officials of the university also took part in the program. BUHS Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. M. A. Azhar expressed solidarity with the students’ demands.
He assured the students that all necessary measures would be taken to ensure road safety and to bring those responsible for the accident to justice. He also called upon everyone to be aware and conscious regarding road safety.
