
Cattle dies in fire at Jamalpur

A farmer's cowshed was set on fire in the Madarganj thana under the Jamalpur district, burning down cattle at around midnight on October 1 in Baglergarh area of the upazila.

The victim, Chatku Mia (60), said that the incident was caused by a land dispute. Mamrul Mia (35), an opponent from the same village, has accused Gang of being involved in the incident.
Farmer Chatku Mia and his wife Rahima Begum (40) said, "I was awakened by the sound of people running past my house in the middle of the night. As soon as I came out of the house, I saw a fire in my cowshed. Three cows and a goat were burnt in the fire."
Another goat and a chicken were burnt to ashes. Upon receiving the news, the fire service and law enforcement personnel arrived at night and brought the fire under control.
Neighbors Shah Alam (45) and Anand Mia (18) said, "We came out of the house after seeing the flames and saw Mamrul (35), Rafiqul Islam (42) and Nahid Islam (19) running."
In this regard, the neighbor Mamrul Islam could not be found at home. Accused Rafiqul Islam (42) said, "Their allegations are not true. I was at my in-laws' house at the time of the incident."
Madarganj Police Station OC Saifullah Saif said, "We visited the scene last night. The victim, Chatku Mia, has filed a complaint in this incident. Investigation is underway."
