Chief Whip of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad, Nurul Islam Moni, has requested a special allocation of Tk 14 crore on a priority basis from the "Important Rural Infrastructure Development Project-3 (2nd Revised)" to improve communication and infrastructure in the Barguna-2 constituency (Betagi, Bamna, and Patharghata).

He made this funding request through a Demi-Official (D.O.) letter (No. 11.00.0000.000.041.99.0001.26.261) sent to the Prime Corps/Prime Minister's Office on August 23.

In the letter, the Chief Whip noted that a majority of the roads, bridges, and culverts across Betagi, Bamna, and Patharghata upazilas have remained neglected for a long period, making the urgent construction of roads and culverts necessary to alleviate the suffering of local residents.

The proposed allocations outline estimated costs of Tk 600 lakh for five roads in Betagi upazila, Tk 320 lakh for two projects in Bamna upazila, and Tk 480 lakh for four projects in Patharghata upazila.

Notable proposed roads include Betagi's Betmor Dafadar Bari Mosque-Badal Panchayat Bari Road, Fakir Hat-Kazirabad Border Road, Amragasia RHD-Wapda Bazar Road, Bagbari-Tangrakali College Road, and Bibichini UZR-Wapda Road; Bamna's Gurighata Bazar-North Kakchira Bazar Road and Ramna UP-Dawatala UP Road; and Patharghata's Kiranpur Madrasa-Southeast Kalipur Road, Nachnapara UP-Fakir Hat Road, Charduyani South Ganpara Mokhtar Bari-Hoglapasha Road, and Patharghata-Kakchira Road.

The Chief Whip expressed optimism that the approval and implementation of these 11 road and culvert projects will bring about a visible transformation in the overall communication network of the three neglected upazilas.
