A notorious robber was arrested with two firearms and four rounds of fresh cartridges in joint operation by Coast Guard and Police in Maheshkhali, Cox’s Baza on Saturday.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq provided this information in a press release.
The press release said that based on secret information, at 3:00 AM on Saturday, a joint operation was conducted by BCG Station Maheshkhali under Coast Guard East Zone and Maheshkhali Police Station at Mizzir Para area of Kalamarchhara Union under Maheshkhali upazila of Cox’s Bazar district.
During the operation, a notorious robber of the area, Zainal alias Hatkata Zainal (42), was arrested from his house with 2 locally made firearms and 4 rounds of fresh cartridges.
Preliminary interrogation revealed that the arrested robber Hatkata Zainal has a total of 5 cases including murder, arms, extortion, and assault in various police stations.
Legal procedures regarding the seized items and the arrested accused are currently underway.
The Bangladesh Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future to maintain law and order in the country.
