Illegal shrimp fry worth Tk 3 crore seized were seized in Munshiganj Coast Guard operation
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haque confirmed the seizure of illegal shrimp fry worth approximately Tk 3 crore in Munshiganj on Thursday.
He stated that, acting on a tip-off, the Bangladesh Coast Guard Composite Station Padma conducted a special operation at 10:30 AM on July 31, 2025, in the area adjacent to the toll plaza under Padma Bridge North Police Station in Munshiganj.
During the operation, three trucks were searched, leading to the recovery of approximately 60 lakh pieces of shrimp fry worth an estimated Tk 3 crore.
The seized shrimp fry were later released into the Padma River in the presence of the Louhajang Upazila Fisheries Officer. The trucks were released after the drivers submitted written undertakings.
The Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future to protect the country’s aquatic resources.
