Bangladesh Coast Guard has  provided medical assistance to a critically ill person aboard a passenger launch in Bhola.

Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Harun-Ar-Rashid confirmed the information on Sundday afternoon.

On Sunday,  a person named Shamsul Huda (54) departed from Dhaka for Bhola by the launch Karnaphuli-9. At around 3:00 AM, he became critically ill due to respiratory problems while en route. The matter was reported to the Staff Officer (Operations) of the South Zone through the National Emergency Service 999. With the approval of the appropriate authorities and on the directive of the Zonal Commander of the South Zone, a medical team from Coast Guard Base Bhola was dispatched to the Kheyaghat launch terminal. When the launch arrived at the Kheyaghat terminal at 5:00 AM, the Coast Guard medical team provided emergency first aid to the ill person and quickly transferred him to Bhola Sadar Government Hospital by Coast Guard vehicle for advanced treatment. Subsequently, due to timely and proper medical attention in the presence of the Coast Guard, the person’s physical condition improved.

Bangladesh Coast Guard is tirelessly working not only to ensure the security of coastal and riverside areas but also in humanitarian activities. This incident is a true example of that. The Coast Guard has always been committed to public service and will continue this dedication in the future.
