In a major anti-smuggling operation, the Bangladesh Coast Guard intercepted a shipment illegally bound for Myanmar, seizing 240 sacks of cement and 380 sacks of fertilizer alongside two boats, and detaining ten suspected smugglers in the Sitakunda area of Chattogram.

Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Suzon informed this on Friday noon.

According to the official statement, Coast Guard Station Bhatiary launched a special operation based on intelligence reports at 1:00 AM on Friday near the Sandwip Channel within Sitakunda upazila. During the raid, security personnel searched a suspicious fishing boat and a cargo boat, uncovering the illicit cargo valued at approximately Tk 1.45 million.

The seized goods, transport vessels, and the ten detained individuals have been handed over for processing under subsequent legal procedures.

The Coast Guard reaffirmed that its rigorous anti-smuggling patrols and operations will continue to safeguard national borders.
