Companiganj Police arrested two people, including main accused, in attempted kidnapping of schoolgirl

Companiganj Police said that on Saturday at around 8 pm, based on a secret tip-off, a raid was conducted in the Basurhat Bypass Road area and two people were arrested with the help of local youths.
The arrested are Saidul Islam Niloy of Ramdi area of Basurhat Municipality and Ahnaf Hossain Mahin (19) of Rampur Union.
According to the case, on the night of July 29, on the way to a Halud ceremony with family members, some people blocked the movement of the microbus carrying them on the road adjacent to Nabi's shop. It is alleged that an attempt was made to forcibly take away a schoolgirl. The incident was foiled by the screams of relatives and the quick action of the driver. Later, the police reached the spot and brought the situation under control.
Later, a video of the incident went viral on social media, sparking widespread discussion. Based on the complaint of the victim's family, a case was filed at the Companyganj Police Station under the Prevention of Violence against Women and Children Act.
Companyganj Police Station OC Nurul Hakim said the process of sending the arrested people to court is underway and the drive to arrest others involved in the case is continuing.
