Coordination meeting on security for Durga Puja in Dhaka dist, metro areas held

A coordination meeting was held at the Dhaka District Council conference room on Sunday afternoon to ensure peaceful, safe, and festive celebrations during the upcoming Sharadiya Durga Puja 2026 across Dhaka district and metropolitan areas.
Chaired by Dhaka Deputy Commissioner Ms. Farida Khanom, the meeting was attended by State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku, MP as the chief guest. Members of Parliament representing constituencies under Dhaka district, senior police and administrative officials, and leaders of puja celebration committees were also present.
During the meeting, Dhaka District Superintendent of Police Shamima Parvin outlined the comprehensive security arrangements and law enforcement strategies prepared for the festival. She highlighted steps taken to ensure safety at puja mandaps, heighten intelligence surveillance, reinforce police patrolling, maintain emergency response readiness, and handle potential untoward incidents.
The Superintendent of Police directed law enforcement personnel to discharge their duties with maximum vigilance, professionalism, and responsibility. She also urged puja committee leaders and local stakeholders to work in close coordination with police and district administration.
Based on recommendations from participants, several operational decisions were adopted to strengthen venue security, maintain public order, and ensure safety throughout the festival period.
