Dhaka Div Commissioner Sharaf Uddin Ahmed inaugurates eye camp in Baniachang

With the funding of Dutch Bangla Bank PLC, under the supervision of Drishti Unnayan Sangstha (DAS) Dhaka and the initiative of 'Manabik Baniachang' (a voluntary organization), a free eye camp, cataract screening and operation camping was held in the rural town with the theme of "Manush for Manush" in front of it.

The camp was held at Baniachang Meda


Bikash High School in the Upazila Sadar under the chairmanship of 'Manabik Baniachang' (a voluntary organization) convener Farhad Hossain Bakul at 9 am on Tuesday. 

Sharaf Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury, the chief guest at the inauguration of this day-long free eye camp jointly hosted by Fazle Elahi Jadu and Al Azad Hossain Jabed, members of 'Humane Baniachong' (volunteer organization), was the chief guest.

Habiganj Deputy Commissioner Dr. Faridur Rahman, Prof Dr. Shahin Reza Chowdhury, ADC Mainul Haque, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Ismail Rahman, OC  Md. Golam Mostofa and others were present as special guests.

In his speech as the chief guest, Sharaf Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury said that any person above forty years of age who has cataracts in his eyes has become blind and has lost his sight. It is possible to restore his eyesight with a small initiative. We have organized this eye camp from that perspective.

Many times, it is seen that helpless poor people are unable to get treatment due to lack of money. That is why this eye camp, cataract screening and operation camping are free.  I hope that many people will regain their eyesight through this eye camp. Their lives will be led normally. Eyes are a priceless asset of a person. Once a person loses their eyesight, it cannot be restored.

The welcome speech was delivered by the founder and executive director of the Drishti Unnayan Sangstha (DASA) Dhaka, Prof  Dr. Md. Shahin Reza Chowdhury.

In addition, initiatives have been taken to provide free transportation, accommodation, cataract surgery with lenses, medicines and glasses to the selected patients.

Journalists from various print and electronic media, as well as prominent figures from the area, were present at the camping.

Fifteen doctors are providing eye treatment to about 1,000 men and women of the upazila in the free eye camp, cataract selection and operation camping program.

At this time, the guests were welcomed with flowers and presented with crests. They expressed their gratitude and gratitude to the concerned authorities for receiving free eye services.
