Drug-addicted youth detained in Ansar raid at Malibagh T&T colony, girl handed over to family

Staff Correspondent

Members of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party detained a young man and a teenager from an abandoned building inside the Malibagh T&T Colony in the capital's Hatirjheel area on Saturday night  for trespassing and consuming narcotics.

Acting on a tip-off around 1:00 am, Ansar personnel PC Md. Nurul Absar and member Md. Mahfuz from the Dhaka Metropolitan Ansar (DMA) West Zone rushed to the scene. While three other companions managed to scale the boundary wall and escape, the officers apprehended the two individuals.

Following initial questioning and with authorization from higher authorities, the detained teenage girl, Mosammat Jannatul Jakia Alam Jerin (17), was handed over to her mother, Mahmuda Akter, upon executing a formal bond in the presence of local dignitaries. The girl's mother stated that her daughter had been away from home for about a week.

Officials noted that the operation reflects the Ansar force's continued commitment to public safety, crime prevention, and responsible humanitarian service.
