Eight fishermen rescued from fishing boat adrift at sea for three days
The Bangladesh Coast Guard has rescued eight fishermen from the fishing boat 'FB Mayer Doa', which had been adrift at sea for three days due to a broken shaft. Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq gave this information on Monday (August 18) morning.
He said, "On August 14, the fishing boat named 'FB Mayer Doa' went to sea with eight fishermen for fishing. Then, due to a mechanical fault, the shaft broke down and the boat started floating in the sea.
After three days, when it came under the mobile network, at 10 am on Sunday, August 17, a fisherman on the boat called the Coast Guard emergency service number 16111 and reported the matter. As soon as the news was received, the Coast Guard ship Swadhin Bangla, which was patrolling the sea, conducted a rescue operation. They were able to rescue the fishing boat with eight fishermen from the buoy area number 5 adjacent to the Mongla Fairway in a short time. The Coast Guard provided first aid to the rescued fishermen and provided necessary food and safely transported the boat to the river bank adjacent to Herbaria.
He also said, "The Bangladesh Coast Guard has been conducting regular operations to ensure the safety of the coastal and riverside areas. Such rescue operations will continue in the future."
