Madhupur (Tangail) Correspondent

Unidentified miscreants brutally killed the elderly mother of a local union BNP leader in Dighirpar area under Sholakuri union of Tangail's Madhupur upazila, looting gold ornaments and cash from the house.

The victim, 65-year-old Jalemon Begum, was the wife of late Ayez Uddin of Dighirpar village and lived alone in her home.

According to sources, the murder took place between 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM on Friday (July 31).

A neighbor, the wife of Rezaul Karim, went to Jalemon's house to get betel leaf and discovered her lying in a pool of blood on the floor. Hearing her frantic screams, local residents rushed to the scene and informed the police. Madhupur police subsequently arrived and recovered the body. Locals noted that there were no lights in the courtyard of the spacious house, forcing curious onlookers to use mobile phone flashlights upon arrival.

On Saturday morning, August 1, the body was sent to the Tangail General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Madhupur Police Station OC A.K.M. Fazlul Haque stated, "The incident is being investigated with utmost seriousness. Police are working with top priority to uncover the mystery behind the murder, identify those involved, and bring them to justice."

Meanwhile, a special investigation team from the CID visited the crime scene on August 1 to unravel the mystery, collecting various pieces of evidence for laboratory testing. Investigators hope that physical evidence and technological analysis will help swiftly identify the motive and culprits.
