Lalmonirhat Jamaat demands July Charter implementation

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Lalmonirhat district unit, brought out a mass procession on Saturday to press home demands for the implementation of the July Charter and the convening of a session of the Constitution Reform Council.

The procession started from the premises of the Lalmonirhat Bara Masjid, paraded through the main thoroughfares of the town, and culminated in a brief rally at the Mission Mor intersection.

Conducted by Hafez Shah Alam, Assistant Secretary of Lalmonirhat District Jamaat, the rally was addressed by Advocate Abu Taher, Ameer of Lalmonirhat District Jamaat, as the chief guest.

Other speakers included Professor Ataur Rahman, former district Ameer and central unit member; Maulana Habibur Rahman, district Nayeb-e-Ameer; Advocate Md. Firoz Haider Lavlu, district Secretary; Advocate Abdul Baten, district working committee member and former Ameer; Alhaj Niaz Ahmed Reza, in-charge of the district business division; and Md. Ashraful Alam Salehi, Secretary of the Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir Lalmonirhat district branch, among others.

During the speeches, leaders called upon the government to ensure justice for the killings of students and citizens during the July uprising.
