Former Jubo Dal Convener Mizanur Rahman Faraji (55) was seriously injured in an attack by Jhalakathi municipality sanitation workers  in front of the city's Sanai Community Center on Wednesday.

He was admitted to Jhalakathi Sadar Hospital in a critical condition. However, immediately after the attack, the accused municipal workers took out a broom procession to cover up the incident and demanded his arrest.
Local sources said that two days ago, municipal sanitation workers in the city's Masjidbari area dumped garbage on the side of the road. When Mizanur Rahman asked them to remove the garbage in front of his house, Mizan slapped one of them during an argument.
According to eyewitnesses, a few hours later, in the afternoon, a group of municipal sanitation workers attacked Mizanur Rahman in front of the Sanai Community Center. He was seriously injured after being hit with sticks, iron rods, bamboo and stones. Later, with the help of locals, he first went to the police station, and then, seeing his serious condition, the duty officer of the Sadar Police Station sent him to Jhalokati Sadar Hospital for urgent treatment.
The relatives of the injured allege that this was a planned attack. Nothing can be said against their negligence and arbitrariness. They killed him and left him bleeding for protesting against not taking out the garbage. His condition is critical, but now they are staging a drama and protesting on their own.
After the attack on Mizan, the municipality's sanitation workers took out a procession with brooms in hand in the city. They protested in front of the Press Club while chanting slogans such as "We want justice for Mizan, we want his arrest." A section of locals expressed their anger at this, saying that those accused of the beating are the ones protesting on the streets - this is hiding the real culprit and making the victim the culprit.
In this regard, Jhalakathi Municipal Executive Officer Mosa. Shaheen Sultana said, "I was not at the scene. I heard that Mizanur Rahman beat up our sanitation workers. However, I do not know whether our workers beat him up or not."
Jhalakathi Municipality Municipal Administrator Md. Kawsar Hossain said, "Mizan beat up one of our workers, so the workers protested against him."
