
GAU welcomes freshers with grand orientation

With the first light of dawn symbolizing new beginnings, Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU) hosted a vibrant orientation program for undergraduate and postgraduate students of the Summer 2025 term. Held at the Begum Sufia Kamal Auditorium at 11 AM on Thursday.
The event blended tradition, discipline, research and aspirations to inspire the incoming cohort. Professor Dr. Mohammad Saiful Alam, Director (Student Welfare), presided over the ceremony. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dr. GKM Mustafizur Rahman, graced the event as the chief guest. Special guests included Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. M. Moynul Haque and Treasurer Prof Dr. Md. Safiul Islam Afrad. Deans, directors, faculty members, provosts, officials and staff were also in attendance.
A total of 487 students 435 in the BS program, 48 in MS and 4 in PhD officially began their academic journey. The program opened with a special prayer for the July24 martyrs. A touching documentary highlighting the universitys achievements and research initiatives underscored GAUs commitment to agricultural innovation and sustainable development. The Registrar Md. Abdullah Mridha delivered a lively welcome address, providing an overview of the university. Students shared their dreams and aspirations, reflecting the spirit of determination and hope. The Proctor, Professor Dr. Md. Safiul Islam Afrad, outlined key regulations, encouraging students to uphold discipline and university values. In their motivational speeches, guests emphasized the importance of building a meaningful life through education and resilience. The Vice-Chancellor, in his keynote, began by expressing condolences for the recent tragedy at Uttaras Milestone School and paying tribute to the July uprising martyrs. Welcoming the students to the nation's top-ranked institution in agricultural sciences, VC said, Agriculture is the science that encompasses all sciences. Set your goals now and prove your merit on national and international stages through dedication and hard work. He concluded by urging parents to support their children in becoming compassionate, responsible citizens.
The day concluded with smiles, dreams, and sky-high hopes, marking the beginning of a promising academic journey. At 3 PM, the Vice-Chancellor held a cordial meet-and-greet with the parents of the new Orientation.
