The current government is fully prepared to prevent measles, said Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain.

He said this as the chief guest at the inauguration of a training program on the use of bubble CPAP in the treatment of measles-related pneumonia and respiratory problems at Dhaka Children's Hospital and Institute in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital on Thursday.

Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain said, measles is spreading suddenly. We had no such preparation. However, we are fully prepared to prevent measles in a short time.

He also said, measles vaccination will start across the country from next Sunday. I am shocked by the death of so many children. All necessary measures have been taken to prevent the outbreak of measles across the country, including Dhaka and Rajshahi.

The Health and Family Welfare Minister said, special measures have already been taken in some hospitals for the treatment of measles. Ventilator system has been increased in Rajshahi and Manikganj. In addition to arranging ventilators in various hospitals, doctors and nurses are ready.

Requesting all levels of health workers to stand by us in this critical moment of the country, Health Minister Sakhawat Hossain said, "Our health workers have many crises and problems and we have already been informed about this. I promise you that we will try to solve all your problems as soon as possible. But before that, I seek your cooperation in this critical moment of the country."

Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain also said that several health workers engaged in vaccination have not been getting their salaries for a long time, this is a big problem for them. In addition, there are demands for promotion or grade improvement in several posts such as several thousand health assistants, co-health assistants and health inspectors. It will be considered.

Referring to the contribution and humanity of doctors, the Health and Family Welfare Minister said, "I would like to request doctors to prioritize 'trust', the biggest issue in medical ethics, and conduct healthcare activities."

Chaired by Professor Dr. AKM Azizul Haque, President of the Board of Directors of Bangladesh Children's Hospital and Institute, the meeting was also addressed by Director General of the Directorate of Health, Dr. Prabhat Chandra Biswas, Executive Director of ICDDR, B, Dr. Tahmid Ahmed, Director of Children's Hospital and Institute, Professor Dr. Md. Mahbubul Haque.

At the same time, in a seminar on the outbreak of measles in Bangladesh, Professor Dr. Mirza Md. Ziaul Islam, Head of the Department of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, shed light on the pattern of measles spread and what can be done to prevent this disease.

Later, the Health Minister inaugurated the newly established "Surgery Outpatient Department" of Bangladesh Children's Hospital and Institute and visited the "Specialized Measles Ward".
