Health assistants in Mymensingh demand implementation of 6 points

As part of the program announced by the Central Demand Implementation Coordination Council of Bangladesh Health Assistants Association, health assistants held a 3-hour program from 8 am to 11 am at the Mymensingh Civil Surgeon Office premises on July 8 to implement the 6 points.
The program was presided over by Bangladesh Health Assistants Association Mymensingh District Branch President Md. Afzal Hossain, and was addressed by Mymensingh Division Convener AKM Shafiul Alam, Organizing Secretary Md. Mizanur Rahman Shakil, Central Coordinator of Health Assistants Association Md. Nasir Uddin Bhuiyan, Central Coordinator Md. Apel Mahmud, and other health assistant leaders from 13 upazilas of Mymensingh district.
In the sit-in program, the health assistant leaders said that although the work of vaccination is completely technical, we are deprived of the status of technical posts. Therefore, our recruitment rules should be amended to provide 14th grade by adding the educational qualification of Bachelor (Science) and technical posts through in-service diploma training and technical posts through training. This program is being held to implement the proposed 6-point demands, including upgrading the salary scale to 11th grade. If the demands are not implemented, all EPI activities will be closed from September 1st. Therefore, the leaders said that in order to resolve the long-standing discrimination, they hope to implement the proposed 6-point demands by considering the applications of 26,000 health assistants in the country who are victims of discrimination by the current interim government.
