Illegal fishing nets seized, destroyed in support of Ansar in Tanguar Haor

A joint drive led by local administration and law enforcement agencies confiscated and destroyed illegal fishing nets worth approximately Tk 7 lakh in Tanguar Haor under Tahirpur upazila on Monday.
The five-hour operation, conducted from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, was jointly executed by Executive Magistrate and Assistant Commissioner (Land), alongside the Upazila Fisheries Officer, to protect the ecological balance and aquatic resources of the wetland.
Supported by 14 embodied Ansar personnel from Rupnagar, Golabari, and Ramsinghapur camps along with local police officers, the team seized 3,000 meters of fine-mesh Kona nets, 6,000 meters of monofilament Current nets, and six fishing boats used for illegal fishing.
A mobile court operating on-site fined the skippers of the six seized boats Tk 5,000 each, recovering a total of Tk 30,000 in fines before releasing the vessels. The seized illegal nets were subsequently burned and completely destroyed in accordance with judicial directives.
