Jamaat leader resigns in Kalapara giving Facebook status

A leader of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami from Mahipur police station in Patuakhali has announced his resignation from party posts and all kinds of political activities through a status on social media Facebook.
Md. Khalilur Rahman Qiam Gazi, General Secretary of Nizampur Ward 1 of Mahipur Sadar Union, made the announcement on social media on Tuesday (July 21) night.
In a statement, Khalilur Rahman Qiam Gazi said that while associated with the organization's politics, he has always tried to work for justice, fairness and moral values. However, recently, allegations of various immoral activities against some central and high-level leaders of the party have come to his attention. As these allegations conflict with his personal ideals and beliefs, he has decided to sever ties with the organization.
He also said that his statement did not intentionally use the word 'Islam'. According to him, just because a person or organization has Islam attached to its name does not mean it represents the true ideology of Islam. The true identity of a person is determined by his actions and character.
In the final part of the statement, he requested forgiveness if anyone was hurt by any statement or behavior during his long political career. At the same time, he sought blessings from everyone.
In this regard, Tofazzal Hossain Sipahi, Amir of Mahipur Sadar Union Jamaat, said, they met Khalilur Rahman after August 5. After that, he worked actively with the organization for two to three months. After that, he did not participate in any programs and did not keep regular contact with the leaders and activists of the organization.
He also said that Khalilur Rahman had a dispute regarding his personal land, which was not resolved through arbitration. In addition, the organization did not take any responsibility for collecting about three lakh taka from one person. We believe that due to these reasons, he has gradually distanced himself from the organization.
Meanwhile, there is widespread discussion and criticism in the political arena of Mahipur surrounding the announcement of Khalilur Rahman Qiam Gazi's resignation on social media.
