Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Md. Asaduzzaman emphasized the imperative of establishing an independent, strong, and corruption-free judicial system to restore public trust and confidence in justice.
Speaking as the chief guest at an orientation program for new members of the Dhaka Bar Association on Friday,
he highlighted that establishing the rule of law and professional integrity relies heavily on the talent, honesty, and hard work of lawyers.
Addressing the audience, the Law Minister stressed that lawyers hold a sacred moral duty to uphold client trust and must thoroughly prepare on legal matters before entering court rather than relying on party dominance or power.
To support new legal professionals, the Law Ministry has allocated Tk 500 million this year for training programs. Discussions are also underway with the Commerce Ministry to amend the Companies Act to mandate appointing at least one lawyer per private company to expand employment opportunities.
He encouraged lawyers to maintain social responsibility by handling at least two cases free of charge for poor and helpless citizens out of every ten cases.
He reaffirmed that the government, led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, remains committed to ensuring good governance and pursuing justice for historic killings, disappearances, and false cases.
